Paul Anderson, VP of Construction
You know that guy that gets stretched a little thin, but kinda likes it that way? That’s Paul. You’ll likely find him at every active job at one time or another every week, whether supervising, meeting with clients, partners and vendors, or laying rock.
As Dale’s oldest son, Paul fondly recalls some of his earliest childhood memories - going to work with his dad. “The feeling I got on job sites, the smell of freshly dug earth, and ending the day with a built foundation has kept me going in the business for years.” After graduating from Kewaskum High School, Paul attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to further explore his talent as a pianist (among other instruments) in pursuing a music degree. He left college to enjoy the next 12+ years as a professional musician and songwriter, playing clubs and colleges around the Midwest and Midsouth following a move to Nashville, Tennessee. While plenty fun, these years weren’t wasted, as Anderson recounts how his time in a working band taught him about teamwork and responsibility. Paul returned to Wisconsin in 1998 to become a full time employee of DAM, with a strong work ethic and creative streak that helps him perform his job to the fullest to this day. In 2008, Dale attended a Masonry Heaters Association conference at Wildacres Retreat, South Carolina, and since then, Paul has attended twice, sparking a new and exciting interest in bake ovens and masonry heaters. “It gets you outside with friends and family sharing food, and what’s better than that?” Anderson states. “And masonry heaters just make sense today; no power company or fossil fuel, clean burning...it’s a win/win.” Paul most enjoys the ‘conception to completion’ aspect of their work. “I love listening to customers, gaining input and insight about their project, and creating something that’s really their own. Seeing a job through from a sketch on a napkin to a stone wall is the best.” He’s proud of their growth over the years, moving from strictly foundations and fireplaces to one of the premier masonry contractors in southeast Wisconsin. “Our size allows us to work with many clients at once, and it’s great knowing there’s always someone in the office when we’re needed.” Lessons learned? “Everyone’s important. Organization, and being open and honest are the keys to our success. Every customer must be treated with a high level of respect. Each client’s project truly matters to them, so it matters to us. Our commitment is essential.” Paul enjoys a wonderfully hectic home life in West Bend, WI with his beautiful wife Candace and their three fantastic kids, Henry, Larsen, and Francesca. |
